Supplied new by Swinford Motors of Stourbridge in March 1978, this Porsche 911 SC had four local owners up to 1995 when it was sold via Autobahn of Coventry to a gentleman who kept it until he gave up driving in 2021, ownership then transferring to his son.

It has covered 158,780 miles to date and comes with a large history file to document regular upkeep over the years. This includes c.27stamps in the service book, the last at 158,734 miles in November 2018 since when it has barely been driven.

Most of the servicing has been done by the supplying dealer and by three Coventry-based Porsche specialists: PCT, Autobahn and Autohaus Werkshoppe. A quick flick through the many invoices on file show that the engine was rebuilt by Autobahn at 131,367 miles in 1998 at a cost of £2,950. The following year the bodywork was restored by Millbank Porsche with new front wings, door slam panels and sills plus a bare metal respray which cost £6,470. In 2004 the interior was re-trimmed by Southbound at a cost of £5,179 including leather seats, dash top, centre console, door cards etc.

In 2014 Francis Tuthill supplied a PMO 40mm carburettor kit and a 964/Turbo S camshaft set which cost £4,188 and were professionally fitted by Autohaus Werkshoppe for an additional £2,900. All four wheels were also refurbished in 2014. In 2015 the headlights were uprated with a LumeTechnik LED kit supplied by RPM which cost £1,027. The tail lights have also been uprated and a high level LED brake light fitted. A Cambermeister strut brace and an RS steering wheel have also been fitted and the car benefits from a sunroof.

No doubt there are various other upgrades but as the history file is so large and some of the invoices are just part numbers it is hard to be definitive, especially as the chap who owned it for the last 25+ years is no longer with us.

Documents on file indicate that the car has been used on various sprints/hillclimbs/track days and it certainly feels healthy on the road when one of our directors drove it recently. A compression test by the Porsche main dealer in Cheltenham in 2019 (c.200 miles ago) showed the following results: cylinder 1 - 130psi; 2 - 125psi; 3 - 135psi; 4 - 145psi; 5 -145psi; 6 - 140psi.

Issued with a Hagerty agreed value insurance of £45,000 in 2018, the car also comes with 29 old MOTs plus a current ticket that runs to January 2023 with no advisories recorded. The original handbooks are present in the original Porsche leather wallet along with a Porsche heritage certificate that shows the car was built in January 1978 and was originally Grand Prix White (now Cockney Brown) with sports suspension and sports seats in Cork leather.

As you can see in the photos, the car is in generally good order cosmetically apart from a few minor paintwork blemishes here and there. Starting promptly and running well then surely it’s time to make space in the garage for a fun car and this one is ready to drive away.
