1957 LAND ROVER SERIES 1 88" – MSV321
KEY FACTS
An excellently presented and carefully maintained example ofthe iconic 4x4, benefitting from a complete overhaul in the late 80’s and recentfull Dinitrol anti corrosion treatment coupled with some minor chassis repairs.
Under the bonnet is the vehicle’s original 2.0-litre in line-four engine, delivering around 52bhp to all four wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox.
This matching-numbers Series I was first registered on 20thAugust 1986, prior to this it is believed to have been a military vehicle. Originally sold to a Mr Banner it was then sold to a Mr Hughes in November 1987 when it was subjected to a major overhaul and respray. Much of this excellent work means that the vehicle still presents very well today and has recently had a great deal of expenditure to ensure that it stays that way.
This classic Land Rover is accompanied by a history file documenting much of the works carried out since being registered.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
Finished in Bronze Green over a simple colour-coded interior with green vinyl-trimmed seats, this Series I rides on its correct 16-inch body-coloured steel wheels, complete with load space-mounted spare wheel.

A tow bar and electrics are fitted.

CONDITION
The body still presents extremely well with no obvious bodywork damage following the vehicle’s overhaul.
The resprayed Bronze Green paintwork has only a few minor scratches and scuffs across its surface.
There is no damage to the replacement seats, and there is some general age-related ‘patina’ across the surfaces of the controls and instruments.
There are no reported mechanical or electrical faults other than a windscreen wiper motor that is temperamental.
Due to the vehicle’s age, it is exempt from mandatory MOT testing.
SERVICE HISTORY
This Land Rover’s recent service and repair invoices in the last two years total over £8,000 showing how much love and attention has been lavished on this vehicle. There are 14 old MOT’s going back to 1989 that provide evidence that mileage appears to be genuine. The engine oil and filter were last changed in in December 2022 at 79,000 miles.
